I arrived in Canada in March, April....end of March early April.
I stayed at Zia Angela’s house, and I didn’t see anyone.
I stayed there until I got married at Church of Our Lady, with an Italian priest because I had just come from Italy.
We had a big wedding celebration.
Your Nonno was very happy and so was I, to start our lives in Canada.
[Many years later] we returned [to Italy] in May via ship and we stayed for two years.
We lived in the old Bortolon compound in the countryside.
Since your Nonno was the oldest family member, he had to look after the farm.

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last!
